The Dark Roast Report is an independent publication launched in August 2025 by Seth Marsicano and Reanna Gonzalez. After years of working in journalism, the two noticed a gap in news coverage for the Texoma (Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas) area.
Mission Statement
To provide in-depth and digestible investigative reporting for everyone, with the goal to inform, not persuade.
The ultimate goal is to establish the publication as a non-profit.
With many years of experience working in the for-profit news sector, it became evident that money will always have an impact on the depth and quality of the stories told. While non-profit news sources seem to approach stories with more journalistic integrity, their reach is generally limited to more metropolitan areas.
We cover anything that seems to be a misbalance of powers and shine a light on underserved communities, as well as bring awareness to resources that positively address some of the aforementioned issues.
