The importance of independent journalism

Both founders of the Dark Roast have seen the barriers being for-profit creates for journalistic integrity. From the beginning, the Dark Roast‘s mission has been solely to inform and positively impact the community, not to prioritize monetary gain.

Supporting independent investigative journalism is more than just giving money, it’s advocating for holding entities of power accountable. We refuse to put our main content behind a paywall because we believe everyone has the right to be informed on what’s going on in their community.

We offer the option to become a monthly member of the Dark Roast for $5/month. In addition to showing support, members will get exclusive insight in our weekly newsletter, ‘Behind the Brew’. You’ll be able to preview things we’re currently looking into and receive other special updates.
