Ford House Manager accused of problematic statements about employees quietly brought back
A Manager at Wichita Falls Ford House was allegedly terminated from his position after recordings of him making problematic comments about employees were released, only for him to be brought back, until Dark Roast got corporate involved.
In late 2025 a series of recordings began circulating social media, that reportedly captured Charles Fancher, who at the time served as General Manager of the Wichita Falls Ford branch, making racist, homophobic, and sexist statements about employees. The recordings were allegedly captured during conversations in managerial meetings. They reveal Fancher mentioning several employees by name and making statements about their work capability based on race, making comments about female employees' body parts, and making statements about some employees being gay and it being genetic.
Some examples of the recordings can be found in the quotes below:
"You get an older white couple in here, and he may sell, but I'm gonna tell ya, he ain't gonna make no money, and you're gonna be able to feel friction if it's an older white guy. This town is not Dallas, Texas – it's not Vernon. F***ing Electra gets along better with blacks than Wichita Falls."
"The reason why she was successful, she's cute, she's pretty, she's got big tits and she always wore a low-cut shirt."
"Let me tell you what, buddy, you got all them old cowboys over there – them ranchers, a black man goin' through there, they're gonna say that's my slave – I own that."
While other managers of the branch later made statements claiming that Fancher was let go from his position, those who were still employed at Ford House claimed that Fancher was simply moved to a different branch under the same owner, Jose Pozos. Employees claimed to have still seen Fancher's name on payroll and said he still came to the Ford House lot at times.
A few months after this, once talk about the recordings had died down, Fancher was reportedly brought back to Ford House as a Sales Manager for the New Cars side of the dealership. According to employees, this happened with no apology and with Fancher not having undergone any sensitivity training, though allegedly, he was warned against making such comments again. Fancher was also not listed on Ford House's employee page. One employee, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed that they felt there were no repercussions for Fancher's actions and that employees were just supposed to get over it, despite the fact that it made several employees uncomfortable.
The same employee mentioned other concerning behaviors of Fancher's that they felt should have warranted termination, but higher ups tried to justify bringing him back by claiming that sales dropped when he wasn't there and that Fancher losing the position created financial hardship for him. They said several employees complained to higher ups about Fancher's behavior and statements and that several even quit over it – before and after Fancher was brought back.
The employee concluded that all they'd like to see done to correct the situation is for Fancher to be fired and not brought back, though they admitted they have a hard time believing that will ever happen.
A previous employee of the branch who also requested to remain anonymous said they commonly witnessed Charles making inappropriate comments about the way employees looked, or making belittling statements about their intelligence. They added that they felt many of the other employees of the branch wouldn't be allowed to get away with such comments, but that Fancher seemed to get special favor from the owner. They said that they feel there's an issue with the whole work environment of Ford House but that Fancher is a contributing factor in that.
They went on to add that they felt accountability was not a priority at Ford House. They noted that they believe Ford House will continue to lose employees unless serious changes are made to how the branch is managed and operated, starting with Fancher being removed.
"Charles is extremely knowledgeable in the automotive industry. He has some strong points, but they are undercut by his inability to operate in a fair and even-handed manner. He most certainly retaliates when someone doesn't do exactly what he wants, even when the expectation is not clear," the previous employee said. "The vast majority of employees at Ford House love their job and take pride in what they do. Until Charles Fancher is gone, for real, there will unfortunately be a cap on the potential of the employees and their team."
Tyrone Peoples, who was one of the employees mentioned by Fancher in the recordings, has since left Ford House, but he and his wife expressed that what Fancher said has had a lasting impact on them. He said that when the recordings were released, he found out through friends reaching out to him to check on him. One of them then sent him the recordings.
Peoples said upon hearing what Fancher said, he was upset because it was so disrespectful. Up until that point, Peoples said he had respected Fancher, despite working on the other side of the dealership from him. He noted that others had mentioned Fancher being racist and deep down he had suspicions, but it wasn't confirmed until the recordings came out.
Peoples said that later that day, Fancher approached him and tried to create excuses for what he'd said in the recordings, without apologizing.
"I said, 'Charles, I heard what you said. I'm a grown man. I heard the n-word, so for you to come up here having said what you said and not apologize to me, and say that – it let's me know right there the kind of person you are.' I told him I had lost all respect for him and that's when he apologized," Peoples said.
Peoples's wife said she was sent the Wichita Falls Rants and Raves Facebook page link to the recordings. She was emotional as she recalled the moment she heard the way Fancher described her husband. She felt Fancher's comments were disrespectful and humiliating because they reflected Peoples in a light that she felt in no way accurately represented the kind of person or salesman he is.
That evening, Peoples's wife and parents went up to the dealership, where they were met by Used Cars Sales Managers James and Russel, who they said were extremely apologetic. Peoples said owner, Jose Pozos even told him that Fancher's comments were unacceptable and that he'd no longer be there. However, Peoples said even then, he suspected that Fancher would be brought back.
Like the other previous employee, Peoples said he believes Fancher is a good salesman but that his view of people negates that. Additionally, Peoples added that Fancher notoriously talked down to employees and would make employees do additional work "just because" as a "power move."
After Fancher left, Peoples tried to pursue better opportunities in the branch but was declined, despite having the support of some of the other managers and what he feels was more than enough experience. From that point he decided to pursue a job outside of Ford House. Not long after, Fancher then reportedly returned to Ford House as Sales Manager. Peoples admitted he felt frustrated hearing this, because he felt the owner had lied to him.
Peoples said the whole experience put a bad taste in his mouth and he believes the dealership will continue to lose employees as long as Fancher's there. He and his wife also expressed concern for employees that were mentioned in the recording that are still employed by Ford House. They said they feel the decision to bring Fancher back without repercussions reflects poorly on management in the eyes of employees. Further, they feel it was a "slap in the face" to community members that are women or minorities. Peoples noted that car dealerships already have a bad reputation for being dishonest, so he feels the situation seems to just prove that to be true to the community.
"I believe they'll still get business because people still need cars and people don't wanna go to DFW, they wanna go to Ford House – somewhere local – so at the end of the day, they're still gonna do business, but it's not a respectable business," Peoples said.
After speaking to those with experience working with Fancher, Dark Roast Report reached out to Ford House's current General Manager, Scott Josephson, and Ford Corporate on July 10. Both parties requested additional time to look into the matter and prepare responses by Monday of the following week.
Ford Corporate spokesperson, Angie Kozleski, told Dark Roast that after we brought the issue to their attention, corporate reached out to the Wichita Falls branch. She explained that she's not sure if corporate was involved in the first instance where Fancher was supposedly let go after the recordings were first leaked, but that they made their expectations clear in this instance with the following statement:
"While dealers are independent businesses, we have strict standards, and policies all must adhere to. That includes the conduct of their employees. We have been in contact with the dealer, and they are addressing the matter."
On July 13, Dark Roast Report received a phone call from Ford House's General Manager, Josephson, in which he said:
"I just called to let you know that Charles Fancher no longer works at Wichita Falls Ford. He resigned today and he is gone."
However, some employees have already begun to express skepticism about the move. They shared concerns that this will just be another repeat of past instances where Charles left the branch, only to be moved elsewhere in the company or to return to Ford House. Dark Roast Report shared these concerns with Kozleski who insisted that corporate would be following up with Ford House on the matter and that she would share an update.
