Wichita Falls City Manager's resignation accepted
Jeff Jenkins assumed the role of City Manager back in June of 2025. Now, the city is accepting his resignation.
The City of Wichita Falls has announced and accepted the resignation of City Manager Jeff Jenkins. Jenkins had extensive city management experience prior to this role. Jenkins was previously the Deputy City Manager for the City of Taylor and worked in various city management positions in municipalities throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Jenkins took his current position back in June of 2025. Now, the city is accepting his resignation, which will take effect on September 1, 2026.
According to a post from the city, Jenkins will be “pursuing other professional opportunities following his departure”. Meanwhile, Deputy City Manager James McKechnie will be taking over Jenkins’ responsibilities while the council determines the next steps.
Those in the community have expressed concerns over the resignation as many significant events are over the horizon, such as the incoming data center and the city’s fiscal year budget. Additionally, Jenkins only held the position for a little over a year.
The post goes on to state that the city will remain focused on “providing consistent services” to the community and “ensuring continuity across city operations” during this transitional period. Additionally, the city will release more information on the position as it becomes available.
