Texoma Tails - May 2026

In the last few weeks, several of our Texoma Tails pets have been adopted! We can't express how happy it makes us when one of the animals whose story we shared gets a happy ending. With the stray crisis, the increase in rabies cases, and the continuous reports of animal neglect and abuse, it gives us hope to see these fur babies avoid those fates. It reminds us of the value of community when we can come together with local shelters and rescues to provide a platform to highlight some extraordinary cats and dogs. We hope that this month's Texoma Tails pets will be just as lucky and loved!

Frankie Frost

Fishy's Friends Rescue (Lawton, OK)

Frankie Frost is a one year old, 65 pound Pit Bull Terrier. He was taken in by Fishy's during the 2026 ice storm, when he was found freezing and severely emaciated. Those that know him say his favorite things are warm beds, full bowls, and soft human hands. The rescue is currently making efforts to get him back to a healthy weight. An ideal family for Frankie Frost would be one that's patient and affectionate, as he's only now learning the joy of cozy couches, belly rubs, and being loved for the very first time.

"Once we got him to safety, his true spirit melted our hearts. Despite everything he’s endured, Frankie is the sweetest, gentlest boy on the planet. Frankie is a tender soul who’s ready to thaw into the family he’s always deserved."

Those that are interested in meeting Frankie Frost can reach out via email at Info@FishysFriendsrescue.com or call 1 (877) 863-4749.

Missy

Heart and Soul Pet Rescue (Fletcher, OK)

Missy was born in the countryside near Sterling in April 2025. She was rescued at just three weeks old. She was raised by a dedicated foster bottle-fed her until she was big enough to graduate to solid foods. Those with the rescue say she grew up alongside other kittens, so she does well with most other cats. They said she's also gotten used to big dogs and has grown to love them. They say Missy loves by screened in windows and swatting at bugs that fly by. They said she also loves chasing a laser.

"Missy is a unique girl with some adorable habits. Missy can be a little shy at first. Once she builds trust, she will jump right onto your lap or chest, demanding head scratches and rubs behind her ears."

Those interested in Missy can apply to adopt her on Petfinder, email heartandsoulpetrescue@gmail.com or call (580) 919-5117.

Saoirse

Texas Pit Crew (Wichita Falls, TX)

Saoirse (Sigh-or-ee) is almost a year old. She's a German Shepherd and has the energy to prove it. She came into the care of Texas Pit Crew after being dumped in a cemetery. In that time, she was hit by a car and had to have surgery on her leg but she has fully healed since then. She was adopted once but returned because she didn't do well with the family's Dachshund. Because of that, she does require a home with only big dogs and older children. Her foster has been actively working to socialize her with other dogs and new people. She also knows all the basic commands. She is currently doing training sessions so her family will be expected to continue with that, which is covered by the cost of her adoption fee.

"She's a very smart little dog. She does take some time to warm up to new people, so that's been our biggest hurdle, but once she warms up, she's great! She's a very loyal dog."

Brax, Nibbler and Purrfect

Wichita Falls Animal Services (Wichita Falls, TX)

These three litter mates lost their mom at just 2 weeks old. At that point, they were brought to the Wichita Falls Animal Services shelter, where a caring staff member stepped up to raise them. They are now nine weeks old. After being lovingly bottle fed, these babies are now thriving, playful, and ready for homes of their own! They're already litter box trained and vaccinated. Staff say they do great with the resident house cats and are even curious about the dogs. They are available to be adopted together or individually.

"These little independent rulers already run the house! And best of all… they LOVE to snuggle."

Those that are interested in meeting Brax, Nibbler, or Purrfect can stop by the shelter to meet them at 1207 Hatton Rd. in Wichita Falls.

Sophie

Wilbarger Humane Society (Vernon, TX)

Sophie is a two year old French Bulldog Pug mix, but shelter staff say even at that age she still has puppy behaviors. They say she weighs around 26 pounds. They say, due to the two breeds that make her up, she would not do well as a walking/hiking companion but can handle small play sessions. She would do best in a home where she can enjoy pets and cuddles from her person. Staff say she is good with other dogs and doesn't pay much attention to the shelter cats.

"Sophie has all the energy for about ten minutes and then she is worn out for hours. Despite not being built for long walks, she is fast and busy when she has energy. There is a lot of wiggle in her butt and a lot of love in her heart."

To meet Sophie, call the shelter at (940) 552-5373 or stop by during business hours.

Simba

Geronimo Animal Shelter (Geronim, OK)

Simba is a bully breed with a lot of love to give. Shelter staff say he's expected to be around 5 years old, but despite his age, he still loves a good play session balanced by some cuddles afterwards. He is healthy and fully vetted. Staff say he’s good with cats. However, he's picky about other dogs and prefers those that aren't too hyper. Staff say that while he hasn't been introduced to any kids, they assume that because of his sweet nature, he would probably love kids.

"He’s a sweet boy and has a good heart!"

Those that are interested in meeting Simba can stop by the shelter at 100 Iowa St.

Lord Fennigan Barthalemeow

Humane Society of Lawton - Comanche County (Lawton, OK)

Lovingly referred to as his majesty, Lord Fennigan Barthalameow, this beautiful boy is seven years old and looking for a home to live out his golden years. Volunteers of the rescue say they're not sure how he'd do in a home with dogs (he may view them as peasants). He is litter box trained and fully vetted, now he just needs someone who love and adore him for all his majestic glory!

"This boy is the king of kings and loves all his loyal subjects. Those who spoil him are generously rewarded with soft conversation, gentle love, and soft purrs."

Those that are interested in Lord Fennigan can stop by the PetSmart locatted at 1806 NW 82nd St. in Lawton to meet him.

Dominic

Stephen’s County Humane Society (Duncan, OK)

Dominic is a one-year old, medium-sized mixed breed with a heart as big as his adorable smile, according to shelter staff. Dominic loves the water, walks great on a leash, and is very treat-motivated. Staff say his foundational knowledge and eagerness to please makes him a fun dog to work with and bond with. They added that he already knows "sit" and is eager to learn more.

"This sweet boy is the total package - gentle, loving and always ready to brighten your day! Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, a cozy evening on the couch, or just being your companion - Dominic is all in."

Dominic's adoption fee is only $60, which includes neuter, vaccines and microchip. To meet Dominic call 580-252-7387 or apply online.
